The Best Zendaya Looks From the Spider-Man:Brand New Day Press Tour

August 3, 2026 | 3:00 PM

There are two things I know will happen when Zendaya has a movie coming out: I will watch the movie, and I will spend an unreasonable amount of time looking at what she wore to promote it.

Because Zendaya doesn’t really do the traditional movie press tour. She doesn’t simply arrive in a pretty dress, pose for the cameras and call it a day. With stylist Law Roach, every appearance becomes part of the story.

And for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the story is, unsurprisingly, very much about spiders.

From black dresses and web-inspired details to vintage Versace, Louis Vuitton and even a $35 Spider-Man T-shirt bought on eBay, Zendaya has spent the press tour proving that method dressing doesn’t have to mean walking around dressed like the superhero himself.

So, in no particular order, here are a few of my favourite looks from the tour so far.

The Christian Cowan moment

Let’s start with Madrid.

Zendaya opened the press tour in a black Christian Cowan Fall 2026 gown, and at first glance, it could easily be filed under the category of another gorgeous black Zendaya dress. But look closer.

The strapless silhouette, dramatic fringe and delicate floral detailing give the dress a slightly vintage, almost old-Hollywood quality. And that is exactly what makes it work.

Fans also noticed that the black floral motif resembled the black dahlias associated with MJ and Peter Parker in the film — a subtle reference rather than an obvious Spider-Man costume.

This is what I love about Zendaya’s press-tour dressing. You don’t necessarily have to understand the reference immediately for the outfit to work. It can simply be a beautiful dress first and a Spider-Man Easter egg second.

And then you notice the details.

The black dress. The dark accessories. The web-inspired jewellery. Suddenly, it makes a little more sense.

Red, because obviously

For another Madrid appearance, Zendaya switched from black to one of the most recognisable colours in the Spider-Man universe: red.

She wore a red halter-neck dress by Spanish designer Ernesto Naranjo, paired with matching red Louboutin pumps. The look was dramatic without being overly complicated, letting the colour do most of the work.

There is something satisfying about a celebrity fully committing to a theme without making it feel like a costume.

It also works because Zendaya knows when to keep things simple. The silhouette is clean, the colour is loud and the styling doesn’t fight with it.

Sometimes, the reference really can be as simple as: red dress, Spider-Man movie.

And I’m okay with that.

Louis Vuitton and the spiderweb tailcoat

Then came Amsterdam, where Zendaya wore Louis Vuitton.

This one was a little more obvious — and a lot of fun.

She wore a Louis Vuitton look consisting of a leather skirt and embroidered top, with geometric details that echoed Spider-Man’s web pattern and a colour palette that played into his familiar red-and-black suit.

This is probably the kind of look I imagine when I hear the words method dressing. It isn’t literally a Spider-Man costume, but once you know what you’re looking for, you can see the connection.

And that’s the trick.

The clothes still look like clothes you would actually want to wear. The Spider-Man element is almost hidden in the construction.

Vintage Versace deserves its own paragraph

Now, this is where things get interesting.

Zendaya and Law Roach have never been afraid of vintage, and this press tour has been another reminder of why archival fashion can make a red carpet look feel so much more special.

In Rome, Zendaya wore a red-and-blue skirt set from Versace’s Fall 1997 collection. The colours alone were enough to make the Spider-Man connection, but the fact that the look came from the late ’90s made it even better.

There is something about putting a piece of fashion history on a modern red carpet that I will always appreciate. Instead of chasing the newest runway look, Zendaya is pulling from the past and making it feel completely current.

And that is one of the reasons I think her press tours are so much more interesting than simply seeing a string of new designer dresses.

The clothes have a history.

They have a reference.

And now they have a new one.

The Giorgio Armani spiderweb dress

Also in Rome, Zendaya changed into a Giorgio Armani Spring 1990 dress featuring intricate spiderweb beadwork.

Yes, spiderweb beadwork.

At this point, you almost have to admire the commitment.

The dress is delicate and glamorous rather than overtly superhero-inspired, which makes the detail even better. If you didn’t know the theme of the press tour, you could simply see an elegant archival Armani gown. Once you know, the web-like detailing suddenly feels like another little clue.

It is almost as if Law Roach is giving us a fashion scavenger hunt.

And I am very happy to participate.

The $35 Spider-Man T-shirt

But my favourite might actually be the least expensive one.

In Paris, Zendaya wore a vintage oversized black-and-red Spider-Man T-shirt that Law Roach reportedly found on eBay for just $35.

And honestly? This is exactly why I love Zendaya’s approach to fashion.

After couture, archival designer pieces and custom looks, she shows up in a T-shirt.

Not a custom T-shirt.

Not a rare designer interpretation.

A $35 eBay find.

It is a perfect reminder that fashion isn’t always about how much something costs. Sometimes the best look is the one that has the most personality.

The T-shirt also makes the method dressing impossible to miss. She isn’t trying to disguise the reference. She is literally wearing Spider-Man.

And somehow, because the rest of the tour has been so carefully considered, it doesn’t feel lazy. It feels intentional.

Vintage Versace, again

Another look I can’t leave out is Zendaya’s vintage Versace Spring/Summer 2016 gown, worn in Shanghai.

The gown is unmistakably glamorous, but the spiderweb-inspired detailing makes it feel right at home within the larger theme of the tour.

This is where Zendaya’s ability to make archival fashion feel modern really comes through. A dress that originally walked a runway a decade ago suddenly becomes part of a completely new fashion story.

And isn’t that what good styling is supposed to do?

Not simply put beautiful clothes on someone, but give those clothes a reason to be there.

Why Zendaya’s press tours never feel accidental

The thing I appreciate most about Zendaya’s fashion isn’t necessarily one particular dress.

It’s the thought behind all of them.

She and Law Roach have been playing with method dressing for years, but the Spider-Man: Brand New Day tour feels especially cohesive. There are webs, red and black, vintage references, flowers, leather, archival pieces and, yes, even an eBay T-shirt.

None of it requires her to walk onto a red carpet wearing a literal Spider-Man suit.

Instead, the clothes exist in the same universe as the movie.

And that’s what makes the press tour feel like more than a collection of pretty outfits. It becomes another layer of the film’s world.

Of course, not every look is going to be everyone’s favourite. That’s the point of fashion. Some outfits will make you immediately understand the vision, while others might have you staring at the screen wondering what exactly Law Roach was thinking.

But I would much rather see a celebrity take a fashion risk than watch ten nearly identical gowns walk down ten different red carpets.

Zendaya has made the movie press tour into an extension of the movie itself.

And maybe that’s why we keep watching.

Because at this point, we’re not only waiting to see what happens to MJ.

We’re waiting to see what Zendaya is going to wear next.

And honestly, I’m just as invested in both.
